Fexhrije Sela

Ms. Fexhrije Sela’s journey in education began over 30 years ago in the United States. After completing her studies in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology at Kingsborough Community College & Brooklyn College, she embarked on her professional career. She started at Chick Peas Preschool School in Brooklyn, New York, and later taught at the YMCA Early Childhood Center. Throughout her career, she participated in specialized training programs at The University of the State of New York, focusing on areas such as “School Violence Prevention and Intervention” and “Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.” Following her tenure at various Brooklyn public schools, Ms. Sela returned to her hometown, Pristina, where she joined the American School of Kosovo (ASK) family in 2009. She initially served as a Kindergarten Teacher before being promoted to Early Childhood Education Principal in September 2022. Ms. Sela’s passion lies in laying the foundation of education in the early years, believing it serves individuals throughout their lives.

Her favorite learning quote is, “All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten.”

Ilirjana Morina

Ilirjana Imami Morina has over 24 years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Prishtina, and has finished her Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum. She has also participated in different professional development training such as the training of the Critical Thinking in Reading and Writing designed and administered by the
Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and has also been certified from the American Corner in Prishtina, KEDP Student in the Center and Step by Step teaching model. Except for that she has just recently completed the “Curriculum Leadership in the International School” at the PTC Summer Institute in Miami. She has worked at ASK since 2004 where she started as a High School Physics and Math teacher. Besides this, she has also been the Head of the Math Department for six years now. Prior to working at ASK, Mrs. Imami Morina used to teach Physics to primary school age children at the “Hasan Prishtina” school, to continue with teaching Physics and Astronomy to secondary school aged children at the ”Sami Frasheri High School” from 1998 up until 2004. On the Academic Year 2017/18. Ms. Imami Morina was assigned the job as the Upper School Assistant Principal, however on 2018 she was promoted to the position of High School Principal, and has been withholding that position ever since. Ilirjana has been married for 20 years and has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Hana and Vesa, which are ASK students. In her free time she loves traveling and incorporating different cultures in her life. She is also very passionate about reading and spending time with her beloved family.

Merita Ajdini

Merita Ajdini is the Elementary/Middle School Principal at the American School of Kosova. She has been an educator for 16 years. She was born, raised, and lived in Kosova until 1999. Then, she moved to the US until 2006. Merita holds a BA in Mathematics-Natural Science Section of Chemistry from the University of Prishtina, which is evaluated in the United States with the United States Standards, and also holds a Master’s Degree in International Management.

After a successful completion of the training “Critical Thinking in Reading and Writing”, Mrs. Merita was appointed as a trainer of the program for all pre-university education teachers of Kosova. She also is certified as a “SAT –MATH” program instructor. Two years ago she completed the PTC Training “Curriculum Leadership in the International School” at the Summer Institute in Miami.

Merita has been married for 21 years, and has been blessed with two children Fjolla and Ardi. On her free time she loves traveling, reading, playing basketball and spending time with her beloved family.
